Workshop on "Safeguarding Data in Crises".

In line with the relevant resolution of the 13th Session of the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom), SESRIC will organise a Workshop on “Safeguarding Data in Crises” for the benefit of National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of OIC countries on 22-23 October 2025, via an online video-conferencing platform. The workshop will also form part of SESRIC’s activities to commemorate World Statistics Day 2025, which will be celebrated globally on 20 October 2025 under the theme “ Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone ”. This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as we prepare to return to Bangkok for our 4th Expert Group Meeting in November — a full-circle moment for the Collaborative. Three years ago, our journey began in this very city, where partners and data advocates came together for the first time to explore how citizen data could strengthen official statistics. In Switzerland, this commitment has guided our approach for 175 years, since the first federal census in 1850 and the establishment of the Federal Statistical Bureau – the predecessor of today's Federal Statistical Office (FSO). Highlighting the 20 Years of Change in European Aviation for World Statistics Day 2025.

  To mark World Statistics Day , the EUROCONTROL's Aviation Intelligence team has analyzed its unique and authoritative aviation data for the European network to highlight key figures comparing the sector today with 20 years ago. As UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated in his open letter for the occasion, “timely, accurate, disaggregated, and independent data has never been more essential.” EUROCONTROL fully supports this message.
