Celebrating World Statistics Day 2025 in Paraná, Brazil.

BRAZIL

On the occasion of the 4th World Statistics Day, the General Superintendence of Economic and Social Development (SGDES) of the State Government of Paraná, through its Strategic Projects Unit, will highlight the importance of reliable statistics for implementing the 2030 Agenda at the subnational level. In line with this year’s global theme, “Quality statistics and data for everyone”, we will use this opportunity to foster the promotion of the tools we have developed to advance and monitor the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in our region.

One of our main instruments is SGDES' BI tool for monitoring the SDGs, an interactive platform providing dynamic and localised access to SDGs indicators, enabling policymakers, municipal managers, and citizens to follow the evolution of goals and targets of their interest. The indicators are compiled by the Paraná Institute of Economic and Social Development (Ipardes), the state’s statistical authority, based on 150 SDGs targets selected as locally applicable. As official statistics, they are produced in accordance with national and international standards and aligned with Brazil’s National Statistical Office (IBGE), ensuring consistency, comparability, and credibility. Making these data accessible and actionable, SGDES’ BI tool strengthens evidence-based decision-making. Relying on official statistics ensures that the information guiding public policies is trustworthy, transparent, and truly available to everyone.
