Distinguished guests, colleagues, and friends,

It is a great honor for us to participate in World Statistics Day 2025 and to join this global community in recognizing the power of data to inform decisions, build trust, and shape a better future.

In the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, we are at a critical stage in our development. To achieve sustainable growth, we must invest in reliable, comprehensive, and transparent data systems. Statistics are not merely numbers; they are the foundation for: - Designing effective public policies, - Attracting domestic and international investment, - Monitoring social and economic progress, - Ensuring accountability and good governance.

Today, our Region faces important challenges and opportunities across many sectors: - In Agriculture, data can guide food security and modern farming. - In Education, it can align skills with labor market needs. - In Health, it can help monitor well-being and improve access to care. - In Environment, it can protect natural resources for future generations. - In Oil and Gas, it can strengthen transparency and economic planning. - In Industry and Infrastructure, it can support diversification and improve living standards. - In Transportation, Electricity, and Green Areas, it can ensure sustainable mobility, energy security, and quality of life.

The STAT Organization for Statistical Data Analysis and Training is dedicated to building capacity, advancing statistical literacy, and strengthening the role of statistics in policymaking. We believe that:
  • A unified public data policy is essential,
  • Coordination among government institutions must be enhanced,
  • Modern technologies must be adopted, and
  • Civil society and the private sector must be engaged to build trust in data.

On this World Statistics Day, let us reaffirm our shared commitment: to ensure that statistics are trustworthy, transparent, and useful for all. By working together, we can transform data into development, evidence into action, and statistics into a foundation for prosperity in the Kurdistan Region and beyond.
