Highlighting the 20 Years of Change in European Aviation for World Statistics Day 2025.

To mark World Statistics Day, the EUROCONTROL's Aviation Intelligence team has analyzed its unique and authoritative aviation data for the European network to highlight key figures comparing the sector today with 20 years ago.

As UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated in his open letter for the occasion, “timely, accurate, disaggregated, and independent data has never been more essential.”

EUROCONTROL fully supports this message. The organization is committed to using data and analytical insights to inform the sector through:

• Forecasts
• Operational and economic analysis
• Online dashboards and a data app with the latest reference data
• Unique data products such as European Aviation Trends, European Aviation Overview, Flash Briefings, and Data Snapshots

A special video titled “20 years of European aviation in numbers” has been shared on social media, offering a snapshot of how the sector has evolved by comparing full-year data from 2005 and 2024. In addition, a social media competition is being held, inviting stakeholders to guess how many IFR flights will take place in the EUROCONTROL Network Manager area on Thursday, 23 October. These initiatives reflect EUROCONTROL’s continued commitment to data-driven insights and sector transparency.
