Data for Now: Accelerating Change Through Quality, Timely, and Inclusive Data.

On World Statistics Day 2025, we pause to reflect on a simple truth: good data saves lives. This year’s theme, “Quality statistics and data for everyone,” is not just a slogan, it is at the heart and one of the key guiding principles of the Data for Now initiative. Across the world, policymakers face urgent questions: How do we prepare for stronger storms? How do we keep hospitals stocked? How do we track corruption and strengthen trust? Many of the answers depend on timely, quality, and inclusive data. Yet in many countries, the systems that provide this data are stretched thin. That’s where Data for Now steps in. The initiative brings national statistical offices together with national stakeholders and global experts to promote the use of innovative data sources, methods, tools, and partnerships for improved data for decision-making. The goal is simple: to empower countries to bridge the gap between the numbers decision-makers need today and to strengthen their capacity to continue producing them tomorrow.
