The Statistics Division (ESS) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has the pleasure to extend an invitation to the global statistical community to participate in the high-level event titled "Celebrating 80 years of FAO Statistics: Achievements, challenges and way forward", taking place on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.

As we commemorate on October 20th, the World Statistics Day and FAO’s 80th anniversary, the Statistics Division is proud to host a special hybrid event celebrating 80 years of FAO Statistics achievements, serving people and the planet.

This event will bring together FAO Members, national chief statisticians, and international counterparts to highlight the critical role of reliable, high-quality data in driving global progress. It will showcase collective achievements throughout FAO’s history in serving people and the planet.

Experts from the global statistical community will share insights on the value of statistics, current challenges, and recommendations for harnessing data to achieve Zero Hunger and accelerate the transformation of agrifood systems.

The event will also feature the latest findings from FAO’s World Food and Agriculture Statistical Yearbook and Pocketbook 2025, raising awareness of the rich data and information FAO has produced over the years.
