CSB Latvia Celebrates World Statistics Day with Storytelling, Seminars, and a Scientific Conference To mark World Statistics Day and the month of Latvia’s national celebration, the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia (CSB) is launching a special storytelling series featuring its colleagues. Each story provides a personal glimpse into their journey to CSB — from first impressions and motivations to the skills and values that guide their daily work. The series also highlights what makes statistical work meaningful, the surprises data can reveal, and the challenges statisticians encounter. The goal is to raise awareness and humanize the work behind official statistics, similar to the #MyStatsStory initiative.

In addition, to celebrate both World Statistics Day and the 20th anniversary of the European Statistics Code of Practice, CSB is organizing an online seminar for educators on 27 October 2025. The seminar is designed for schoolteachers who teach statistics or data literacy. Over 90 minutes, experts from CSB and the European Union House will guide participants on:

• How to find official statistics in Latvia
• How to avoid common interpretation mistakes
• How to create clear visualizations
• How statistics support policymaking
• How to turn data into compelling narratives
